Our Spring 2023 Residency Theme is: Kinship Mind: Embodied and Embedded Knowing.
"The only sustainable way to store data long term is within relationships -- deep connections between generations of people in custodial relation to a sentient landscape, all grounded in a vibrant oral tradition." (Sand Talk, 148)
Knowledge is embodied in and emerges creatively from our embeddedness in multiple worlds. In this residency, we will inquire into the ways that knowing emerges from our embeddedness in our lived experience, from our immersion in craft and practice, from our shared dialogue and ways of making meaning, from the social and historical flavors in which we have cooked, and from our intimacy with the larger ecological systems inside which we are held and to which we belong. As part of our process, we will also invoke the relational foundations of Goddard’s pedagogy, and the role of a learning community in creating the conditions for grounded, relational knowing.
